Question
I have had a UA MP gold MC for several years (depending on the year I'm a MP 1P or 2P). Over the weekend my 5-year-old daughter got an invitation for a UA MP Platinum Visa http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif (as a side note, myself, my wife and son didn't receive the "invitation" yet http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif). That got me thinking about the differences between the two. Other than the obvious (Gold vs. Platinum, MC vs. Visa) which, IMHO, are non-factors are there any other differences?
Some follow-up questions:
I know that if I refer someone to a MP Visa I can get 5,000 miles referral bonus and they get 5,000 miles after the first purchase. Has anyone tried to refer himself or herself from a MC to Visa? If you did, did you get the miles both for the referral (MC side) and new account (Visa side)?
Has anyone been able to get MC or Visa to wave the $60 annual fee? They seem to be very eager to get new customers (My daughter would like to know if the fact that her weekly allowance was just raised from $0.50 to $1 qualities her to a Platinum card, she claims to be a very good shopper http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif).
