Citibank denies 10000 mile online offer--please help

Question
There was some discussion in May of the best Citibank mileage offer. There was an offer of 5000 miles and wave the fee for 6 mos or a year if you already had a Citibank account of some sort. There was also an online offer of 10000 miles if you paid the $50 fee which is the offer for which I applied. A few days later someone commented on the board that the offer changed to 5000 miles. I opened my account and after calling was told I would get the 10000 once I paid the fee. I paid the $50 and also one item I charged. 5000 just appeared in my AA account. After questioning Citi about this they tell me has not been a 10000 offer for at least 6 mos and never an offer waiving a fee. Can anyone help me out? As I recall, it was one of those online apps that gives you no chance to copy your application or the offer. There was no code. I found it by a hyperlink found here.

Dottie---my kids are doing the 20/20 promo and they signed up for the ofer you are talking about>10,000 miles for the one year fee or 5,000 miles for 6 month with no fee. I'll have to check their statements to make sure no fee. This is recent because they just got cards (about 3 weeks ago) and I don't think we have seen a statement yet.

MY wife, daughter, and myself all applied for the 5000mile fee waived 1st six month offer. After she recieved the card, they told my wife there was no such offer and she never applied. She faxed them copies of the offer posted on the internet. They agreed to give her the card for a year for $25 and give 5000 miles. I spoke to a rep when my wife was calling and stated I wanted to open a fee waived account but did not want the hassel that my wife had been getting. She connected me with a rep.I discussed the promotion and told it was available.I applied, got my card and a $50 fee with my first bill.I called to complain. They said to fax proof. I faxed coupies of the internet pages explaining the offer. They said no good they needed something in writing to show they sent me the offer. These people are either stupid or it is a scam .Do they hope you do not see the fee and pay anyway. That would be my guess.I held the car for 30 days after my 1st purchase got my miles and then cancelled. My daughter got the card,no fee 5000 miles, and no hassel.Go figure.

Answer
Thanks for your responses. I got disgusted and cancelled the card. It is like the AolAAdvantage offer. If a company makes an offer, they should stand behind it in good faith.
Citi-bank gets my Bah-Humbug award for the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dottie--
I am sorry that you canceled before i saw your post. In the American Airlines section many comments related to that offer have been posted. Some people even have copies of the offer and I too have a hard copy for my own battle with Citibank. It appears too late to help with your struggle ( http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif). However, I hope anyone else out there who is frustrated about this matter will look to the discussion on Citibank Gold Mastercard in the AA site.

It is an absolute shame that citibank consistently denies this offer. I got a hard copy from dogcanyon, mailed it to them and ultimately got 5000 activiation bonus put directly into my AA account, and 5000 added to my total on my statement. But they claim ignorance until you can prove it (it was an aolaadvantage application). I was going to apply for my husband when I discovered that they had "upgraded" my husband's visa to this card. I called telling them that I applied for this card online and we wouldn't activate his card because we wanted a new card with the 10,000 bonus. I got someone really nice who said that they didn't want to lose him as a customer and she would see if she could get him the 10,000 without having to cancel his card. I faxed her a copy of the promotion. His 10,000 miles just hit his account - so I just activated his card. It shouldn't be so hard! I think they transferred the people who worked at citi f/i over to this department if anyone was involved with that fiasco - consistent denial of promised promotions.

I called Citibank last week because I only received 5000 bonus miles on the 10,000 mile offer. I was told they would research it. Yesterday I received a letter from the prolific "S Larson" saying the bonus miles I requested will appear on my statement within 2 billing periods.
