Citi AAdvantage outside US/UK ?

Question
Hi,
I would like to get Citibank AAdvantage.
I live in Germany but I can not get any
info about such cards here. I found only
cards on US and UK websites. Unfortunatelly
"US (UK) residents only".
Any help will be highly appreciated.
(If you come to Frankfurt I will buy you
lot of beers http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif )

Answer
The rumor is that Starwood is ending the Optima card, and replacing it with a Citi visa/mc. (see starwood bulletin boardsite, I don't know how to bring the HTML over).
If that is correct, and the Starwood program continues at current rewards, you can charge $20,000 for 20,000 points, and transfer them to AA for 25,000 miles. (I think AA participates).
This is supposed to occur (rumor) in June/July.
If that works, will you buy me lots of riesling? I don't drink beer.

Answer
Actually, Citibank does offer the Citi AAdvantage card in Germany (and Italy too). Both offerings in Germany and Itlay are for a VISA Gold card and a 5,000 mile first purchase bonus. When I was at the ITB trade show in Berlin in March, Citibank had a pretty big booth promoting the product.
You can go to http:\\www.citi-aadvantage.de for information on the card in Germany. I'll post the telphone number once I can find the information that I picked up.
A friend of mine in Milan just applied for the card in Italy. I'll get that number for you soon.

Answer
Not yet. I have printed the application
and put it into shelf - it is not possible to apply on-line and I am lazy to fill it out and send it by snail-mail ... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
