Does anyone know if First USA Mileage Plus credit card still has those promotional checks where one can earn double miles? They used to send them out every six months or so and they could be used for balance transfers or other payments. I haven't seen one in a long time. Thanks.

I have not seen any of the double mileage balance transfer checks since First Card was running the United Mileage Plus Visa. When the FCC Bank was bought out by Bank One and the credit card division was merged with First USA they stopped issuing the checks with the double miles. All the offers I receive from First USA with balance transfer checks has in very small print "miles cannot be accrued with transfer checks."

I received one from the 'marketing department' at First USA about 6 months ago...
I was happy to deposit the check for $20,000 into my E-trade account for 40,000 miles. The only catch was the $99 service charge for writing the check.
The normal checks that come with the statements do not earn miles.
I called First USA requesting another 'marketing' check, and the agent told me they are sent occaisonally throughout the year.

Thank you for the info. Maybe they selectively choose who gets those checks. I used to get them twice a year until I did something similar to what you did by maxing out my card with the check to get the max number of miles and then they stopped sending the checks. I wonder if there is a connection?
