Conversion of Click Citi card to other cards

Question
Had to call Citibank today to dispute the charges from Dealpool which never sent me anything and promised to reverse all charges before going out of business but failed to actually do so. Got a very nice CSR and he was offering me balance transfer deals and stuff that I didn't want. But then the thought occurred to ask him if there was anything I could do with my now useless ClickCiti card (no more double miles and I already got my 60K for the year on it). He said sure I could convert it into whatever I wanted -though not Amex black http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif . I would have to pay an annual fee for another Citibank AAdvantage card, or I could have a no annual fee Platinum card with 1.9% intro rate etc. Thought this might be useful to somebody... And by the way, they let me keep the same number on the card.

Answer
Steffo-
I'm not an atttorney but generally when you buy with a CC and have a problem - you don't pay - ever since the Fair Trade Act, which goes way back! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
Why not just withhold the payment since it seems it's actually their problem?
Hate to see you geeting "nailed" here!

Answer
Thanks Doc, but that is what I'm doing. In order to get the charge off your bill you have to dispute it--i.e. call, tell them you're disputing, then they send you aform to fill out asking you why, and in this case "why?" is easy because it's that I never received the product. Is this the same as what you mean, or is there a simpler way?

Answer
Sorry, steffo, I thought perhaps you were getting a bit of a run around (as I am now from Amex Plat and NWA), and that perhaphs they were NOT being responsive and offering some "other" supposed benifts instead of a refund! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Again sorry about the hassle! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Answer
Is there any reason to keep my Click Citi card?

Answer
well this Six year old thread only had Doc and Seffo.
I guess Seffo was the one canceling and Doc was only giving informal legal advice even though he's not a lawyer.
Seffo, has the last six years of your life been managable without a citiclick card?
I would think that being citiclickless would be a living hell.
just kidding . I don't know what a citiclick card is.
but then I am always the last to know about new & innovative state of the art financial products.

Answer
Click Citi was a product that was issued in 1999. The card did not have a magnetic strip, so it was aimed at web-purchases. Mine was automatically converted to a Citi Dividend around 2003.

Thanks... Mine was not automatically converted. In fact I just received a new card.
Should I ask for it to be converted? Perhaps for a churning reason?
I really don't need another card to show up on my credit report.

Answer
I would ask for it to be converted. See if you can get bonus points, since you probably never got bonus points for the card before. I converted mine to a Citi Dividend and then to a Citi HHonors. I got the bonus for the HHonors card.
