need advice on insurance

Question
We have decided to sell our truck and go back to driving for a company. The truck will be sitting while we try to sell it. What type of coverage do we need to carry on it? I'm sure some type of bobtail/non-trucking (whatever they call it) and some type of theft/fire/damage. I'm sure we'll have people test driving it. Any help would be greatful. Thanks

Answer
If you currently have Physical Damage and Non-Trucking Liability, you will need to consult with your agent as any issues that may maintaining the Non-Trucking Liability without a lease. You will also need to talk to your lienholder (if you have one) to see if you can reduce any of the Physical Damage coverage will the vehicle is parked, as you do not want to be in default of your loan.
Based on the information you've provided here, if you were my client and you terminated the lease with your motor carrier, your Non-Trucking Liability would have an issue as it requires that you maintain a permanent lease and consequently you may not have any liability to move the vehicle (for test rides etc). To carry only Fire & Theft would present a problem if the vehicle were involved in an accident during a test ride.
Your best avenue is to discuss this thoroughly with your agent and get their recommendation for how to best meet your needs within the confines of the policy and your financial committments.
