Answer
If you intend to protect your investment, you'll need Physical Damage. Then to protect the public, you need liability.
But, here's the tricky part....
If you are leased to a motor with an existing vehicle and changing trucks, check with your current agent to see if there is any gap in coverage "before the new vehicle is signed on".
If you do not have an existing vehicle but you have a Letter of Intent from a motor carrier, you may be able to purchase Non-Trucking Liability coverage. If you do not have a letter of intent or if you are exempt or have you own authority, you will need primary liability.
The best place to start is to contact your current insurance carrier and explain the situation. They will recommend the avenue you'll need to pursue.
If you currently do not have an insurance carrier, contact a couple reputable truck insurance agents for their professional recommendation.
