Question
Hi, I am in Oklahoma and they require workers comp insurance on an employee the rates are over 300 per month time of coverage is only on the job time. I agree insurance is important but think there are better insurance plans for less money than workers comp.
my question is how can i get around the workers comp deal?
would forming a partnership work?
Answer
There is no disputing that Workers Compensation can be expensive, but we're talking about compliance with state law.
As the employer you are obligated to cover your employees. Not providing the coverage could subject you to fines and penalties by the state, not to mention the serious ramifications if your employee were injured.
May I suggest that rather than looking for ways to usurp the law, you contact your insurance agent, attorney and accountant for suggestions in best meeting your obligations at a financially acceptable rate. They will be able to suggest options appropriate in your area.
Answer
Thanks for advice, I will not hire someone without having them covered by insurance.
the deal is i beleive there are policies that offer better coverage like 24hrs a day for less money not just while they are on the job?
every worker i hire has insurance either on farm policy or workers comp.
am taking your advice & will check around Thanks
