Question
I was wondering if any one out there in this or other forum's can explain to me about the DOT Reg's for how an Insurance company work's with Owner/Operator's as opposed to how they work for company's.
Answer
Your question is very broad. Can you narrow this a bit and perhaps we can be of assistance?

Answer
The regulations don't address how insurance companies work with motor carriers or O/O.
The regulations simply state that if an insurance company has a filing with the FHWA on behalf of a motor carrier, that the insurance company is liable to the public safety for damages done by that company to the limits of the liability or cargo filing.
There are no filings required for O/O thus, there are no regulations addressing that relationship.
Does this help?
Also, because I don't really know what your true question is; an insurance company, as well as the agent, has a fiduciary responsibility to act in good faith for the benefit of the insured as long as they are within the limits of the law.
What is your real question?
