Question
Hello everyone,
I have been talking to many an insurance company.
The few that come close to knowing about Trucking, still seem to be confused on the GVW of the tractor and trailer.
I know combined weight should be 80,000, but how, in terms of registration, and insurance is GVW split up between the two.

Answer
I may be wrong on this, but it is my understanding the GVW is what it's registered for.
In the case of a T/T registered for 80,000 that IS the registered weight. And that regristration is for the tractor only.
Many times they will also ask for EMPTY weight. And that gives the weight of the tractor only.
That help?
Monty
Answer
Yes Monty, That's how I thought they did it.
But, some insurance agents up here seem to get that one confused.
I guess it should be a "Red Flag" if they haven't a clue on this.
