Have you heard of the term CSL ????

Question
In my quest for finding insurance in the
Massachusetts area, I am hearing a term used by the agents > CSL. Now when I ask them if it covers the mins for FMCSA authority, they don't seem to know what I am asking. So, does any one know what CSL is, and does it cover the req.
BTW, Connie,
For your future reference,
Massachusetts use's a pooling system that all CMV's are insured thru. From my conversations with various agents in the state, the pool is flat rate. All the agent's have stated "recent experience" is not looked at. Every one pays the same based on a point system that counts total accidents, & claims in the pool.
I'M hearing 9200-9800 a year for full coverage on a 5 yr old truck & trailer pulling frozen.

CSL stands for Combined Single Limit for Bodily Injury and Property Damage. Some companies write a split limit, such as 100/300/100. That represents $100,000 per person for Bodily Injury with $300,000 per accident for Bodily Injury and $100,000 for Property Damage.
To explain further, using the above, the policy would respond with up to $100,000 in coverage for injuries to any one individual. $100,000 would be the max it would pay. However if 4 people were injured and each person's injuries exceed the $100,000, there could be a problem, because the coverage would top out at $300,000 per claim. On the property damage, the limit of $100,000 is the max the policy would respond for all property damage. Let's say the vehicle driven with the 4 persons was an antique car worth $150,000 and it was totalled. The max the policy would pay is $100,000.
On the CSL, it basically says that's the policy limit for Bodily Injury and Property Damage combined.
When talking to the agents in Massachusetts, let them know what limits you need. If you are traveling interstate the minimum is $750,000 CSL (Combined Single Limit). Make sure your agent in Massachusetts is well versed in trucking and you may need to be specific your needs to comply with FHWA.
Now that you mention the "pool system", I seem to vaguely remember that.
Hope the explanation on CSL helps. Best of luck
