Question
I'M not fealing very loved today. I contact an agent who is very helpfull with info.
Then I mention im in Massachusetts. "ooops, we don't write policies for your state, thank you for calling (click)". After talking to 7 insurance companies, and not getting any emails back from another 4, I just dont feel loved.
Any one dealt with this problem, and found an easy answer. I would love hear from you.
It's not that I have this great love for Taxachusetts, I just don't want to add moving to the expences of putting a truck on the road.
Any idea's would be great.
Answer
Gee....I'm really sorry to hear you don't feel loved. But, it's not you....it's Massachusetts.
If you called us, we would have told you the same thing, but hopefully nicer than anyone else.
Massachusetts insurance regulations are VERY strict. In some cases, it makes it virtually impossible for the insurance companies to do business in your state and still make a profit. And, yes, insurance companies need to make a profit or they can't pay claims.
I'm not suggesting you move, but I do suggest you contact a local insurance agent. You may find the premiums are significant (this is what I've been told). But your only other option would be to move to a more "insurance friendly" state, like Wisconsin .
Now, IF you are an owner operator and leased to a motor carrier (in another state) that requires you be registered and domiciled in that other state, we MAY have some answers for you. To find out, please give me a call at 800-933-7911.
Take care....
