Connie, a question for you

Question
Please see the following site. This contains all of the info on this incident. My question is, How will this be viewed by the insurance carrier? How will this affect me?

Answer
Lightfoot,
I'm not an attorney nor your current agent, so all I can do is give you my opinion based on the information provided, however keep in mind that nothing in this post is intended to imply an agent/client relationship.
Based on your description, she was merging and you were already in the main flow of traffic. Normally, the party merging must yield to traffic.
The good thing is no one was injured. And you took pictures. That's good. Get a copy of the police report and be sure to keep in handy for the next few years, as this will probably show in your driving record.
The police report will show who's primarily responsible for this incident and hopefully that will be her. If that in fact is the case, then you can feel fairly comfortable. Insurance companies look at fault in accidents in making their premium calculations.
As for getting sued, yes it's possible that she may bring an action and there is nothing you can do to avoid that. But you prepare by making a file for this accident, getting the police report, documenting the incident (make notes of all the little details), get duplicate set of pictures, and notify your insurance company of the incident. Even if your damage was less than your deductible, having a record of the incident is important to any defense later on.
I hope this helps you.
Regards,
Connie

Answer
The pix I took weren't all that great, it was dark and I couldn't get in a position to get a good view of the damage to her car. I couldn't very well get out in the traffic lane to do it, so what I got is what I got. I hope it's enough.
However, I thank you for your reply and advice. I am trying to cover all the bases, and your thoughts are very helpful in seeing how this might go.
BTW, I saw my insurance agent here today, and she said my insurance carrier is one of the few that doesn't raise the premium on commercial drivers for accidents that were nonpreventable. THAT'S good!
You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free... but first it will make you miserable!
