I've Asked.

Question
Connie,
We have just bought a used 1996 Freightliner and my question is this...
What is the best coverage types and amounts should we have? We have our insurance through OOIDA and bobtail through our carrier we leased on with. I just want to compare what we have to what others in the business have, just in case we need more or to up the amounts. With all the different types that are out there one tends to be careful about what they get.
Thank You,
Kathy (Alkat)

Answer
Kathy,
Assuming you have a loan on your truck, you'll need Physical Damage (which you indicate you purchased from OOIDA and by the terms of your lease, you'll need Non-Trucking Liability, which you state you purchased from the motor carrier. Depending on the other contractual issues in your lease, you may need some other coverages such as Workers Comp or Occupational Accident, etc.
I will gladly quote your coverage if you can provide the following information.
Please provide the full legal name of the owner and state of residence
Driver Name
Date of Birth
CDL # and State of issue
Who are you leased to?
Where are they located?
What commodities do they haul?
How many years driving tractor-trailer?
How many years have you been an owner-operator?
What violations have you had in the past 3 years?
Describe any accidents in the past 3 years?
Provide value of tractor
I work with many fine insurance companies and want to provide you with the most competitive price. The answers to these questions will enable me to maximize the credits you may be entitled to. My Non-Trucking Liability
runs approximately $37 per month for a $1 million limit and the Physical Damage is contingent on the value of the vehicle. Of course, everything will be subject to the
specific underwriting information provided.
FOR YOUR PRIVACY, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL THE RESPONSES TO THESE QUESTIONS OR CALL ME AT YOUR CONVENIENCE.
I look forward to hearing from you.
