Question
I found a web page that listed Allstate as the most corupt company of the year. I have been with Allstate since 1983 and have had to file two claims both of which I went to an Allstate adjuster and was cut a check for what Allstate figured it would cost to fix my pickup, I now have home insurance and am thinking real hard about changing every thing because on top of the web bad cudo's there was a story on 20/20 about Allstate and their bad practices after the quake in California and hurricanes in Florida.
Does anyone have any thing positive to say about Allstate?

It bothers me when people refer to an insurance company or insurance agent as corrupt. Not that it does not exist, but from being on this side of insurance, I get to see another picture.
As for Allstate, I'd be interested in the website you mentioned in your post.
The best information I can give you is this:
1. Judge the company on the way you've been serviced.
2. Judge your agent on the manner in which they have served you.
3. Comparison shop with others such as State Farm and American Family (both are direct writers such as Allstate)
4. Then contact an independent agent (one who represents several carriers) and get a quote from them.
Be sure to use the same information in all cases, so to compare apples with apples.
What I can tell you is, if you and your agent have a good working relationship, go to him/her and discuss your concerns. Then make the decision that is best for you.

Hi Connie thanks for your reply; although, Allstate is tough to beat price wise because I've been with them for so long and have a clean record, I know that the cheapest is not always the best and as I mentioned the site below nor 20/20 were very kind to Allstate and I know that agents are just a pebbel in the ocean when it comes to decisions on paying claims. I found it using allstate as the search reference on Lycos search engine. Sorry for some reason the hotlink doesn't work but like I said, if you use the LYCOS search engine and type "allstate" the the title is "Allstate insurance war storiesAllstate insurance is screwing America.

Mike, you can edit out your edit messages at the bottom of your messages also. I learned this the hard way. Just delete the message at the bottom, everytime you go in to edit your message.

I have Allstate Insurance on my pickup and my boat. I've been pretty happy witht them so far. Their Boat rate was 1/4 the price of any I could find.
Here in PA, last year, we had a bad hailstorm. My pickup got hammered. Allstate had an adjuster out here right away. I'm completely satisfied with the service. I had no problem getting the pickup back to the way it was.
Early this year my brothers car quit on him. Being he's in college and I'm normally out on the road, so I added him as an additional driver and let him use it while I'm gone. Well not too long after he hit a deer. Three days later he hit another one. The adjuster didn't give me any problems, and quickly got the pickup back into good shape.
All in all...I've been happy with Allstate.

Thanks Dan I haven't had any problems with Allstate on auto insurance either and now all I carry is PL/PD because of the age of my vehicles. It was the home owners side I was worried about I think I'll contact Fort Collins Better Business Bureau and see what if any complaints have been filed there.
