Freight Claims

Question
In addition to Connie's post on read only board. I would also like to warn people that haul used equipment to be careful of what they accept without documentation. It has come to my attention that there has been a big problem with the scammers that will go to an auction and buy and piece of equipment for say, 2000.00 and when you get it to the delivery point and get your tarps off of it. Oh my goodness, this thing is damaged, just look at all of that rust on those cylanders and look at that broken crossarm. Next thing you know, you have a claim for twenty thousand bucks. (even though they only paid a few grand for it to begin with) and you insurance company has no choice but to pay it because it is not documented before hand.
My Advice. I use cameras with datebacks on them. I photograph at loading and I photograph at unloading, before and after tarping also. I do not develope the film unless there is a problem. Just mark dates on the bottles and throw them in a box at home. Saves developing costs.
There are people out there that make a living pulling this scam and a few others that I know of.
