Insurance ?'s Please help

Question
A deer ran into our truck and did major damage, we are buying our truck, we have it leased on to a company. My husband was under dispatch under a load, no damage to trailer or contents just our truck.
We have (on our own insurance from a seperate insurance company other than the compa
ny we are leased to. Whom is responsible? Both the company we are leased to and our insurance company are aware of the accident. We don't know weather to put the claim in with our insurance company or the companies insurance that we are leased to.
Our insurance company said they could handle it but I thought it was the company that you are leased to and under dispatch is the one that has to do it.
This has never happened before and I don't know what to do. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I get the feeling we are being given the run around with the company we are leased to.
Thanks in advance
Kathy G.

Answer
If you care your own Physical Damage policy, then that's where the claim belongs. Sounds like your motor carrier provides the Liability and Cargo, which does not appear to have any bearing in this situation.
Notify your Physical Damage insurance provider and they should be able to help you get this claim resolved.

Answer
Thanks Connie
We carry are own physcial damage policy seperate and away from the company we have our truck leased to. Also we have bobtail insurance that we pay with the company we are leased with.
After days on the phone, my husband has our agent handling everything. They will even reimburse us for the towing bill of over 500.00 (then I think they will go after the company we are leased to) because if I'm not mistaken they are responsible for the coverage under dispatch. I may be wrong but I'm sure that is why we pay their insurance.
Also they (our insurance company) is sending the adjuster out to look at our truck and have it towed to the shop and get it fixed how long that takes no one knows. There was alot of damage. Let me see if I can post a pic.
Again thank you Connie
I have found it is good to have your own insurance through an agent other than the company you ahve your truck leased to.

Answer
Check your lease carefully. Most have a clause that states the motor carrier is not responsible for damage to the owner-operators vehicle.
Good luck.
