Was wondering if ..as a company driver, are your personal items (laptop,camera,etc..) covered by the company against thief?
Or do you need to have some special insurance on the side?

Normally, as a driver your belongings would not be covered. But, check with your employer to see if that have any special considerations.
Then, contact your homeowner's insurance agent and be sure that the agent knows you have belongings with you on the road, most expeciall laptop, etc. Verify that your belongings will be covered and if not, ask the agent to provide you with coverage for these belongings.
