Wait, you can't get insurance if you only have 10 months experience driving a truck or 10 months with your own authority?
If a brand new trucking company is only leasing drivers with over 3 years experience, will there be a problem getting insurance?

I read your post to mean 10 months experience in the trucking industry (driving and/or owner-operator) and based my reply on the same.
Now, if your talking about a new trucking company where the owner has 10 months experience, but the drivers and/or owner-operators have at least 3 or more, then you "MAY" be able to get coverage. It will be difficult, as the insurance company cannot exclude a CDL-holding owner from driving and will consider his experience and driving record when quoting. Based on this scenario, I still only have one company that will consider insuring you (for Liability) and again with a strict 300 miles radius. The Cargo would still be an issue.

If the owner of the company does not have a CDL and he only hires experienced drivers, then there are insurance companies that will write the account and not include the owner. After all, the owner should not be driving without the proper license.

If I get a CDL and they find out I get the boot from them. My DL # is on the policy and I guess they run a check every so often on it.

As a rule of thumb, Northland wants 2 years current experience driving similar equipment.
And yes, they will investigate to be sure that what you told them on the application is the truth. Since as the application contains a "truth and fraud" clause, I would be willing to guess that should an individual commit fraud by falsifying the application, Northland would look to prosecute.
