Question
Connie,
Firstly, thanks for offering such a great place to ask some basic questions. For those of us new to the process, it's a real value.
Here's my situation. I'm considering starting a local cartage company here in Wichita to pick up freight from the bigger trucking and shipping concerns and handle deliveries and pickups for the surrounding areas. I'd be using a straight truck (33,000 or less). I've got my Class A CDL and about 3 months of recent OTR tractor/trailer experience (courtesy of the biggest trucking company with orange trucks!). I've also got almost 2 years of experience driving straight trucks, but that was back in the late 80's and early 90's. My question is, would I be able to get insurance coverage in order to operate under my own intrastate authority with this experience? Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Happy Holidays,
Answer
Sorry for the delay. Somehow I missed your post over the holiday.
I think with a local operation you may be able to get insurance inspite of your limited experience.
Please call me to discuss some options I'd like to share with you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
Answer
As with so many others, I called Connie, and she was extremely helpful. The quote she gave me was quite competetive, and I look forward to working with her. I encourage any of you to give her a ring if you need help.
