Question
Let's talk insurance, shall we?
If one, let's say, has their own authority, one of the required forms of insurance is LIABILITY. The minimum is $750,000, you can go to 1mil. Which do you recomend and why?
Then, cargo. Minimum required by FHWA is $10,000, but what do you recomend, and why?
Regards and good cheer!
Answer
Skip the $5K cargo by registering as a contract carrier as opposed to a common carrier.
Carry the $1M in case you want to transport HM and are stuck for a load to get home.
Keep the faith.

Answer
Can contract carriers obtain loads of load boards?
Answer
EW,
As a contract carrier you will not be required to show FHWA cargo coverage, but shippers will be looking to see proof of cargo insurance. I see alot of requests for $100,000 cargo. It's going to depend a great deal on what you are hauling and what the shippers will ask of you.
