Connie the Insurance Lady, I got a question for you?

Question
Hey I got replys on a post I put on the newbies forum. Allot of drivers told me because of my age of 21 I might not get hired by carriers because their insurance policy might be 23? Now, can they state they hire 21 year olds to drive, if they have an insurance company that states all drivers "new" must be 23 years old or older? Isn't this also misleading?
Hey, if life throughs you a curve ball, try and take a swing at it. Who knows what might happen

Answer
Insurance companies are looking for a minimum of 2 - 3 years experience for drivers. To have that much experience, you can't be 21. You have to be at least 23. Now this would not apply if you had intrastate experience and the insurance company was willing to accept that. Most will not. Driving 2 years in Illinois does not equal the exposure driving Chicago to Los Angelos.
Misleading? That's a question for the trucking company.
The rules are not carved in stone, but pretty close in the current insurance climate. Are there exceptions made? Sure! But few and far between.
Hope this helps.
