Need answer on no insurence

Question
Found out that several of the tractors in the small fleet I drive for ther insurence cards stste that the policy on the tractors has expired. Also the state inspection has run out. i mentioned the inspection to the owner and he said they have a current annual DOT inspection and that covers it I think this is hog wash. Now for the no insurence what liability would I be under as the driver of the rig ? Would DOT put me out of service for the inspection and non insured vehicle. This company has has several tractors repossesed and also trls. what a way to run a buisness!!
Thanks

Answer
The annual inspection. You need a current or up to date inpection sticker on the equipment and the the inspection long form in the truck and one for the trailer. You should have a sticker for the tractor and a sticker for the trailer you pull, also a made out and signed long form for the tractor and one for the trailer you pull. Ask you safety manager or permit dept about the new updated insurance card. You need to have an updated insurance card with you in the truck. If your company doesn't have a safety or permit dept. or their giving you the run around on these important items, start looking for another carrier. If they are running low on operating money for inspections and insurance, you run a very high risk of not getting a pay check from this carrier in the near future. Not to mention getting stuck out in middle of nowhere if the DOT shuts you down. If I were you, I'd carry no less than $1000.00 with me to get yourself home in case you find yourself abandoned by your carrier.
