occupational accident insurance

Question
Connie I live and lease my truck in Louisiana.
The company I am leased to is charging 5% of earnings fo W/C insurance. Now they say we can get occupational accident instead of W/C.
I received information from OOIDA about a 100,000,00 policy but the company said the policy is not good enough coverage, but one through National Association Of The Self Employed (Mega)will do. I looked at both coverages and don't see a lot of difference. I am not happy about some past experence that I had with Mega on a health policy. OOIDA's plan is underwritten by Zurich which I would think is as well or not better then Mega. I would get OOIDA for 125.00 per month Mega plan 232.00 per month.
OOIDA said they have had problems with other companies in Louisiana before. I would change companies but I like the runs that I have. Would you know of a plan that I could look at.
Thanks Ronnie

Answer
Prices for Occupational Accident are all over the board. We have a couple products and they're right around $160 per month.
It really all depends on what you want.
I suggest you get a plan outline showing the coverages and compare them. Many times you'll see the difference in how they pay out the Accidental Death portion.
Then contact OOIDA and ask them what kind of problems they've experienced in Louisana. Call Mega and ask if they've had any issues.
Once you have your answers, you'll be better able to make a decision.
Good luck.
Connie
