Question
Hi Connie,
I have some insurance questions. I found a list of different types of insurance that an O/O needs and was just wandering what each is for. (comprehensive & collision, bobtail & deadhead, PL & PD, cargo) some I can figure out, other's not sure about. One more thing, does it cost on the average to insure one truck? I believe these are all my questions for now. Thanks.
Jason

Answer
Well I'm not Connie the insurance lady but;
But here is what I do know for a fact, cargo insurance is dictated by FMSCR 387 Minimum Financial Responsibility for Motor Carriers. Depending on whether you're a private or for hire carrier and the type of cargo you haul different levels of cargo insurance are required. Your insurance company is required to issue you a MCS 90 to state that you are covered for ecological clean-up.
I know it wasn't exactly what you were looking for but hope it helped.
