Question
Nurse Red....could you find out abou this for me? I think it is a vailid concern.
I had this posted in the newbie forum and was told by a gentleman to also post it here.
Hi everybody: i just got finished reading the post ( if company's need drivers on the other forum)
I was going to post this question also but since i'm a newbie i thought here would better until i get known more.
Anyway I was very very serious in weightlifting and powerlifting training for competition. Everything was going well until i tore my right bicep tendon off my elbow. Since then i have taken it easy lifting since the fear factor of doing it again.
Now comes my main concern: I had it fixed by surgery but i also am on a perscribed prescription by my DR which is a steriod based prescription to help the healing.
Now i have talked to my soon to be company about this and it ( i hope is not going to be a problem) BUT.....i was thinking that if i am on the road or what ever the case my be...is this going to be a problem.? ( lets say a random drug test) this is not the same as smoking and all the other drugs on the market...but if i were to accidently misplace the letter from my Dr. ( due to things can happen out of one's control).
I am not sure what to think...I can see the point of drugs are not allowed in our industry....And i applaude it.....but a steriod is not a mentally affecting drug9 my opinion) But i am open to any opinions that you may have
Thanks in advance GJN
Answer
DOT drug testing only tests for the following 5 substances in urine. THC (Marijuana), Cocaine, PCP (animal tranquilizer), Amphetamines, and Opiates.
That's it. Alcohol is tested for in a breath sample. No testing is done for steroids under DOT regulations.
