Question
Just out of curosity a friend of my boyfriends wants to drive a tractor trailer but he is a diabetic and takes insulin shots. So what exactly would happen to him if he does get to drive a tractor trailer won't he fail the exam automatically?I personally don't think he needs to be driving a tractor trailer but i refuse to say one way or the other.
Answer
Kris, you are right. He can not get medically qualified to drive interstate with Insulin Dependent Diabetes. He may however, try getting a waiver to drive INTRASTATE, but it is my understanding that they are only issuing these waivers to persons who have been drivers for quite some time, with a proven safety record, not new drivers.
He would have a much easier time pursuing some other career choice.
