Tooth hurty

Question
Recently, a situation came up while I was on the road and developed a toothache. This is a tooth that has been loose for sometime, and really needs to come out, but me getting the nerve up and being able to coordinate my home time with my dentist schedule is sorta tricky at best. What I needed was a 'minor emergency' type of dental office. It will be a simple pull, just do the novocaine and yank it out. But where do I find one when I am in East Nowhere, Connecticut ? What's the best way to find a dentist when your on the road?
Does someone have a list ?

Answer
Wow! This is a tuff one! Especially over the holidays.
In most larger cities, there are dentists that offer emergency services. You can find them in the local yellow pages. Unfortunately, they are often more expensive.
There is no list that I know of.
If you get down to the Baltimore/Wash. D.C. area, I can refer you to the dentist that works with us. But they operate under regular business hours.
Get that tooth taken care of soon before it leads to infection or worse.

Answer
Do not play dentist and assume the tooth has to be pulled out. The chances are all you need is a root canal. Later you can get a cap.
Generally such infections can be taken care of by Keflex, which is the preferred antibiotic, if someone will prescribe it to you. Dental infections are EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. You cannot afford NOT to have the time off. READ MY LIPS.
If the dental infection gets into your bloodstream and settles on your heart valves you will end up with a condition called endocarditis. Kiss your driving career good-bye and resign yourself to a heart valve replacement or permenant debilitation as a result of a stroke due to clots thrown off by the valve. What are the chances of this happening? Significant. Dental infections cannot be left alone. Period.

Answer
I don't know about today, because I am not out there anymore. BUT twice, 1976 and 1984 I got the damnest infection in a tooth that you ever seen. In 1976 I went to a hospital emergency room in Chicago and they got me a dentist. Then in 1984 I was in Klamath Falls, Or. and did the same thing. The hospital got me a denist. After the teeth were pulled and I was given antibotics I sleep for about 24 hours and then up and at them again. I am still missing the teeth and the only people that it bothers is my dential people now!

Answer
Is toothless. Or at least the offending tooth is out. Pulled it myself on sunday. Actually it wiggled out on its own like a baby tooth does. No pain. Used anbesol on the gum afterwards, rinsed with warm salt water. I'm ok. But keep forgetting to put it under my pillow. What's tooth fairy paying these days, I wonder ? Used to be a quarter when I was on the receiving end.
