I was injured at work almost a month ago due to the back of my left hand/middle finger getting crushed. i had emergency surgery by a hand surgeon the next day and i am slowly recovering with physical therapy, but have a ways to go yet, i can't even close my hand and my middle finger isn't able to move or bend. I was at physical therapy today when my job called me on my cell phone and informed me that i have been selected for a random drug test they said they told the people who request these things that i have been off work for a month already on workers comp. and they said it didn't matter, i still have to take the drug screen. I am taking a steady diet of prescribed , prescription pain medication and i know that will show up as a positive on the drug screen for controlled substances. I have a few days before i have to go in for this, but i don't want to have to say yes if asked if i ever tested positive on a drug screen but i will have to answer yes and a lot of times there is no room for an explanation just a yes or no answer. has anyone here had to deal with something like this before ? thanks !

I ruptured a disc when I was in the Air Force. Doctor had me on oxycontin for pain during the 2 weeks prior to surgery. I got called in for a random drug test during that time. Never heard anything about it.. If you are under a doctor's care and have a valid prescription, there probably is not going to be a problem.

thanks for the info., the company decided to cancel the drug screen since i am off with this injury.
