Question
Here's my problem. I can't sleep. I use to take muscle relaxers, which helped. Then I took over the counter sleep aids. Nothing really helped me sleep until I started taking Lunesta.
If I take Lunesta, I can sleep about 6-7 hours without waking/getting restless. Is it appropriate to take Lunesta if you are driving a truck? Is it considered one of those meds that can block you from driving?
I feel very rested since I started using it. Otherwise, I'm awake 48 or so hours until I feel so drained. Which is definetaly not good when driving a truck.
Thanks for any help on this.
Answer
This is something you need to talk to your doctor about.
The so-called list of what you can or can not take while driving a truck is more myth than fact and has come about due to trucking companies creating their own lists of what medications they will not allow their drivers to take. The only really "official" list is one that states you must have a prescription to take that class of medication.
All the regs really say is that you can not take any medication that may negatively effect your safe operation of a CMV.
Anyway, go talk to your doctor and be sure s/he knows what you do for a living and ask point blank if in their opinion the med(s) you are on will cause any problems.
