Question
Short story. Broke my arm, after two weeks I cut the cast off. I've had it off for about a week. Is it normal for your fingers to get numb at times? Also it's still swollen where it broke. Normal?
And yes, I know I have to see the Dr. when I get home.
It was just too tough to unload with it on.
Answer
Dan,
Sharon is away on vacation this week, but I think she and I will be willing to take you behind the woodshed for your actions. (Cutting the cast off).
But we'll wait for her response, as she is good at it!
Continued success .... but I think you may have pushed the envelope to much.

Answer
Dear Dan,
I don't know how else to put this so here goes........HAVE YOU LOST YOUR COTTON PICKIN' MIND??????????
Ok, now that we have that all squared away, about that arm......
Chances are that you have re-injured it or prevented the break from healing at all. Before anything else, get another x-ray of it. That will determine if any healing has taken place at all. If it is starting to heal, allow them to put a soft cast or brace on it that will support and protect it. If no healing has taken place or it has been re-injured, it will need recasted (and if you are lucky won't require surgical repair). The numbness indicates there is nerve compression or inpingement. This may be due to the swelling or you may have done some serious damage. In summary....No it's not normal. Now get your butt to an orthopedist PRONTO!
