Medical Insurance for Owner-Operators/ Self-Employed

Question
After becoming dissatisfied with Blue Cross/ Blue Shield's post- 9/11 motion to not write individual medical insurance policies for those who have a Hazardous Materials endorsement on their Drivers License, and among a few other details, I have decided I want to cancel my coverage with them.
What Medical Insurance provider do you use that you are happy with?
I've checked OOIDA, but they are looking for a new provider for their policies.
I'm looking at Aetna and Aflac, but have heard very few people talk about them (which may be a good thing, right?).
Thanks for any helpful info. Not liable for any information posted.

Answer
Cap'n, not sure about Aetna's offerings today, but I can tell you Aflac is strictly supplemental coverages. They are the type of policies you get to cover gaps in your major medical coverage. Cancer insurance, disability type coverage, deductible reimbursement coverage. That's what Aflac sells.
I posted on the insurance forum about HSA's, health savings accounts, which were formerly known as MSA's, medical savings accounts. We have ours through Golden Rule Insurance co, one of the largest health insurance writers in the market. As I wrote on the other post, the only way to go for a self employed person as far as I'm concerned, and I did spend almost 10 years in the insurance business, a lot of that time dealing with health insurance and related coverages.
Google health savings accounts and you should get an idea of other insurance companies that offer this coverage. Most will also offer traditional major medical coverage. State Farm, by the way, has a pretty good health insurance product and they have a reputation for taking on more difficult to place risks, i.e. pre-existing conditions. When my niece and her husband were looking for health insurance a few years ago they were the only company that would take her with her diabetes.
