Sudafed?

Question
I was considering having a retired driver do an extra turn on my truck each week to help pay the bills. I meet the guy, we talk, then he's says he has to tell me about a "problem" 6 months back. Says he popped on a drug test, did the counseling, had two follow ups that were clean and then popped again. He swears he doesn't do anything and that his taking Sudafed led to the positives.
I'm having a hard time buying into it. I mean Sudafed?

Answer
My son drives fuel, and there are legal drugs, useful for many ailments, that he cannot take. Maybe someone has a list to post.

Answer
I seriously doubt it also.
Pseudoephedrine hcl which is the active ingrediente in Sudafed is a very common decongestant and found in all sorts of precription and OTC medications.

Answer

There really is no list of medications that can not be taken. All the regs say on this matter is that drivers are not to take any medication while driving that can interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle and the performance of non driving work activities.

Answer
What I meant was a list of drugs whose ingredients will give a bad test result. Not drugs you shouldn't be taking while driving.

Answer
I thought the sample was "split" in the case of a positive result. That way, the split sample could be sent to a second lab to either confirm the result or clear the person. I also thought that an MRO interviewed the person to determine whether the positive was from a prescription or an over the counter medication.

Answer
That is basically the way it is suppose to happen, however in the event of a postive result on the first test, the second is not automatically tested. It is only done as if it is requested my the person who gave the sample.
HERE is the list of schedule 1 drugs that are profibited to use unless under the direction of a doctor

Answer
I tested negative last week after taking Comtrex for a week, now my blood pressure was a different mater. LOL!!!

Answer
HSLD,
As a recovering alcoholic and abuser of drugs, (fyi: my sobriety date is January 26, 1985) I can assure you, I have to watch what type of medications I take. There are numerous over-the-counter medications that have negative results. Especially, when it comes to alcohol, ie. Nyquil has about 40% alcohol.
In addition, I was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago (I make the people of New York City look like they're all on Valium's) and was prescribed Adderall which is a Class-a amphetimine. Thank God that they came out with Stratera which is non-narcotic. I can take a drug test and pass with Straters, never with Adderall or Ritilin.
P.S.
I could actually sell my Pee for a drug-test if the need arises (lol)
Even after 20 years of sobriety, I'm STILL one drink away from a drunk.

Answer
just a little info most do not know about over the counter medicene
Most everyone knows the dangers of drinking and driving, but relatively few understand that driving mixed with some over-the-counter cold remedies poses just as great a hazard. Now, that cold and flu season is upon us, with many of us running to the drugstore for relief, we must consider that many of these medications contain antihistamines, drugs that can severely impair a person’s ability to drive a motor vehicle. Millions of people nationwide take antihistamines to prevent the itchy eyes and runny nose caused by ‘histamine,’ which is a potent chemical released by the cells in the eyes and nose in reaction to pollen or other allergies.
We need to remember that most antihistamines temporarily affect certain receptors in the brain, causing drowsiness. Needless to say, mixing any of these antihistamines, even with a small amount of alcohol can magnify the effects. Driving under the influence of antihistamines is not only dangerous but also illegal, especially if it is impairing the ability to drive.
Deputies who enforce D.U.I. (Driving under the influence) laws, will detain any driver who appears impaired. They typically will check for one’s slow pupil reaction to light and performance during field sobriety tests. Depending on these results, chemical tests of blood and urine can be taken to identify the specific drug. A person who is charged with D.U.I. of drugs is subject to a fine, suspension of his or her driver’s license- even jail.

Answer
Sudmixed with tylnal day time makes LSD. You will pop on that. Reed the back of the box on Sud, it tells you not to take with something. It is the same thing that Tylenal Daytime tells you not to take with. You will trip out. I know. I did it by accident.
I would wander why he takes so much sud. I can understand if you get the flu. Just not all the time.
Also, Vit C works wonders at boosting the white blood cells at battleing a cold. You get a sniffle take 200 mg of vit c. It helps.
You have to watch the over the counter drugs you take when you are out in a truck.
If you get that sick you need the night time stuff. Get a motel. If you are that sick. A nice motel with a bath tub and relaxation dose help. Also, you do not have to worry about having a high alcohol content in a truck sleeper.202 N Main Street

Answer

Normally Daytrader, you are simply clueless. I, like most others I would imagine, simply let your ramblings go in one ear and out the other. But don't post nonsense like this. FYI, Pseudoephedrine, mixed with Tylenol Cold Daytime makes, Tylenol Daytime Cold Decongestant. It does NOT make LSD (DUH!!!)
If this formula caused you to hallucinate, please get out from behind the wheel and into treatment.

Answer
You try it and tell me different. Dopers do it all the time.
Like the Alka-Seltzer pluse flu with sud and some alcohol. Screws you up big time. I mean it is a barbituant happy time.
Now, as for making LSD. OK maybe not (just a form out of 122 types). It WILL POP A DRUG TEST. That is why I said I speak from experiance. They ask what prescripcian drugs or other otc medicines you have been taking. They write them down so the lab techs have a weight ratio to go by.
I am in no way a no it all. I learn as I go. All I can do is tell what I have seen.202 N Main Street
