Question
Nurse Red
Do you think the reason so many drivers get sick around the same time of year would be to the fact that as the cold weather approches we tend to keep our trucks shut up more. That would tend to have us rebreath the dust and lint and dander over and over again. not to say anything about the lack of deoderant.
I noticed that a large portion of drivers with this problem have pets in the truck too.
When my head gets stuffy I find that after a hour or two in the frosy air I tend to feel better. There is no snooze button
on a cat that wants breakfast.
Answer
while in and around their trucks, more so than the general population in their homes. This leads to allergic type reactions as well as a whole host of other respiratory complications .
I do have a line on a company that makes an air purifier for trucks. I have trialed a larger version in our office and it works amazingly well.
Unfortunately, I am answering this post from home and the company info is at my office. However, I will post the company contact info and equipment information when I go to the office later today.Visit us at

My husband and I are market reps for the company Nurse Red mentioned that makes air purifiers for vehicles. The product she is referring to is known as Peak. It operates off a vehicle's cigarette lighter and can also operate off 110. The great thing about our company is that their motto is - "try it before you buy it". That's right-we simply give you a unit to try for at least one week to see what it can do. We introduced this product to Bowman Trucking in Williamsport, Md. and they thought it was a great idea. They put flyers in the pay envelopes of their drivers. The first sale was to a driver who suffers from sleep apnea. One part of the technology is ozonation which kills bacteria and germs. It also kills all types of odors-food, tobacco, pets, etc. We can either send you literature or we can ship you a machine. You can reach us either via e-mail (aida31@juno.com) or via phone (304) 947-5675. My name is Joann and my husband's name is Fenner. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. God bless. Gemini Girl.

Will the fabric refresher Febreze with allergen reducer help somewhat? It claims to reduce up to 75% of airborne allergens.
It has a very light scent which in a small area like the truck would be good as it wouldn't over power. I use it at home as I have a long haired dog . it seems to help. To me it's well worth the $5 for the bottle!
here is their web site link if anyone is interested......

Answer
Dear Donna,
Read your response to sick drivers. While I'm sure Fabreeze does a great job, you are constantly having to purchase this product for continued use. The cost mounts up over time. However, a one-time purchase of one of our units (after the "free trial") is just that-a one-time expense. Plus, for people with allergies, sinus or asthma (like me), you are putting more "stuff" in the air to aggravate those conditions. Our technology is all natural-ozonation for odors, bacteria, germs, mold and mildew and ionization for airborne particulate such as tobacco smoke, pet dander, plain old dust. You as a pet owner would be an ideal candidate to try a unit. Does your dog travel with you? Write back and let me know if you're interested in trying a vehicle unit and/or a residential unit.

Joann,
Thank you but I am not a driver. I work as a forensic lab tech .We have the very best in air purifiers in our labs. Including the mobile lab for field work.
by the way, the dog stays home
I agree that one of your units would help immensely and might be much more efficient , but even though I have no idea how much the unit costs, I do know that many drivers can not afford a big chunk out of their hard earned pay. Especially some company drivers.
But for a quick and abet temporary measure, using the spray is a viable solution.
Besides you only need to spray a couple short spritz atleast once a day. And drivers spend more on windex and paper towels, then the mere 5 bucks for a bottle of Febreze ,which will last atleast a month or more and we won't mention the silly nasty evil smelling pine tree deodorizers they spend money on and hang all over the cab of the truck.LOL
So in essence while the Febreze isn't the unit like your trying to sell,it might help somewhat for those drivers that just can not afford your units yet.
Answer
Donna,
Didn't expect such a prompt reply but should have realized that we females are much more efficient than the men. I'm sure you'll agree. When you say you are a forensic lab tech-is that anything like what we see on CSI? By the way, if so, I'm addicted to that show-the original set in LasVegas. The Miami one doesn't appeal to me all that much. Our air purifiers for a truck cost $316.00 and we could always work out a pay plan with the truckers. We have a good friend who is an over-the-raod trucker and he averages about $800.00 per week. That's not chump change. If you would like I could send you some information about the vehicle purifier. These units can also do double duty as they work off regular household current. We have one trucker who takes his unit into his mobile home when he's off on the weekends, then puts it back into his truck on Monday mornings. This little unit that can be mounted to the dashboard greatly helped one driver's sleep apnea problems (he uses a CPAP machine) and the other trucker who uses his unit in his trailer said it did a fabulous job on the stinky tooties of his shotgun driver. If you would like to take a look at a brochure, write back with your full name, address, etc. Remember, it's try it before yo buy it. We pay a finder's fee for every referral that rresults in a sale. We have home units that do the WHOLE house-not just one room like the ones you see on TV or in Kmart, Wal-Mart, etc. We have pay plans on those units too. If you are interested in seeing literature on those, I'll be happy to send that info. along as well. Again, thanks for your replies. By the way, if you are familiar with Nurse Red on the round table, she tried a unit in her office as she has sinus problems and was very impressed. God bless, Gemini Girl
