Question
My hubby was recently diagnosed with a "right branch bunch blockage" What is this and what will happen if not treated? Can he drive? Thanks
Answer
This is a bit complicated to explain, so bear with me.
Envision the heart crossectioned into 4 parts as you look at it straight on. Now imagine it has an electrical system much like the one in your car. The heart really does have an electrical system.
In the upper left hand corner is the sinus node. This is essentially the battery to the heart. Every beat of the heart starts there.
That impulse now travels to the center of the heart to make the bottom chambers of the heart contract. At the very center is the BUNDLE BRANCH.
The impulse then splits to the right and the left in order to make the bottom chambers contract. Your hubby has a blockage on the right which does not allow that impulse to get thru every time like it should. That means that the bottom right side of his heart isn't pushing the blood thru like it should.
Hope that explanation helps a bit.

Yes that does indeed help out alot. And thanks for correcting me on the name. lol Kind of confusing to remember. What happens if left untreated? We lose our insurance for 3 months on the 30th. Was hoping to get things taken care of before then. Thanks for your help.
Answer
depends on how severe the blockage is. Blood clots, abnormal heart beats, increased chance of heart attack, dizzinesss and fainting, who knows...
I would consult your physician on that and would also opt for the Cobra Insurance if you lose your regular insurance.

I have consulted my doctor......or at least tried too. When I called she wasn't in so I told the nurse what was going on and asked her to look at the ekg and find out what needed to be done. As of today they haven't called me back. So......I will go there today and get some answers no matter what. Then all I have to do is get hubby home! lol Not easy. Can I ask what causes such a blockage? Is it diet, smoking etc? What can I do to make it better if anything? Is there a treatment for this? Again thanks for all your help.
