Just a little nervous

Question
Hopefully some one can explain what the Doc tried to explain.
The problem seems simple but maybe not. But here goes.
I have a small area on my right rib cage. Outside the rib not behind. that is very painfull at times. It does seem to get worse when I sit and drive for long periods of time. It usually goes away on home time. But not this last weekend. It has remained persistant.
It started a couple months ago on the very botom of the ribs. It does seem to have moved a little up to about the second rib up. Before I could not feel anything but now there is a small bump. To press on it makes it hurt.
Well the doc wants to do some test but I do not have insurance just yet so I have to wait until Oct. 1st.
He is talking about tumors. I guess there are 2 different types. One would be the type that moves around. It is supposed to be the better of the two. The other of course would be one that has attached itself to a rib and is fixed.
I am trying to figure out the differences and problems/fixes of both types. Not knowing for sure what type until the test. I think I realize if it's one type I will be doing alot of fishing in the next few months. -->
Then there may be a chance it is some sort of build up, fatty stuff or some thing like that. But not sure what that is either.
He did put me on a anti-inflamatory and pain med.
So if possible maybe someone could give me an idea of the possibilities this type of growth has. I am only seeking ideas and realize no one will know for sure. Any help and ideas would be of appreciated.
I am only sure of one thing. It is not suppose to be there.
Thanks

Answer
It could be a fatty tumore, but they don't usually cause pain. It could be a cyst. They can be painful, but rather easy to get rid of, however they can return.
It could be a different type of tumor as described by your Dr. but only a biosy will tell what type and the type of treatment. It can be surgically removed, tested and if begign, no further treatment. If malignant, it can still be surgically removed, but may be followed by Chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments.
Unfortunately, modern medicine has not developed xray procedures that can diagnose this type of thing without an invasive procedure.
So, get the insurance in place, do some fishing in the meantime, get the tests done, do some fishing, get whatever treatment is in order and then GO FISHING!
