Is this on the DOT no/no list?
Hurt hand and wrist about a week ago, gets better during the day but gives me HELL during the night (sleep period) and when I get up. Went to my Doc, he said he thinks it's just a sprain nothing broken. Gave me a wrist brace and a script for Hydrocine/APAP 10/325. Said there was no problem with driving execept it might make me sleepy after taking. Take at night to give me good nights sleep.
I know several years ago I was hit with a rondom the morning after taking a codine for back pain, I told the nurse I had taken it and she said no problem as long as I had a scipt.
Doc is great, using him for 30 years but he's not up on trucking problems/rules.

Yes it is on the list even if you have a scrip. The question I would ask if using this drug is, How many hours after taking this drug would it be safe to drive a CMV .Also, even though it is still in your system & might make a random test turn positive, what criteria or where is the cut off level a Lab uses that decides positive or negative? Tough questions to answer, and in the past I have asked this of different people on this web site but the answers have been lacking.

You must tell your company that you are on this med for a bit and let them determine whether you should keep driving. Document who you reported to and what their response was. You just never know when someone will say.."I was never told about that" especially if you are involved in an accident.
You may want to ask your Dr. if there is anything that you can take that does not contain narcotics.

I had hip surgery on 9/11/03 and have been taking the Hydrocodone. It was prescribed by the surgeon. How long does it show up in your system? Should I stop taking this drug now? If I do stop now will it be out of my system by 11/4/03? Also will trucking companies disqualify me if still in system?

i have been taking it for about five years now for my back and i have passed all my dot and drug screens, my company knows i'm on it and i also got a o.k. from a mro. since i have been on it for so long it doesnt affect me like others. I dont get sleepy from it or loopy.
