Hay Nurse!!
Friend needs to know if she can take Adderall for Adult ADD and drive a truck. She is mainly concerned about random drug testing, and if it is an acceptable medication. She was recently diagnosed with having AADD and was prescribed the medication. Can she drive a truck, or is she in trouble?

She must explain to her physiciain what she does for a living and how this medication affects her job. If possible she should have the physician write a statement that he is aware of her job responsibilities as a driver and that it is hi/her opinion that the condition nor the medication will affect her ability to perform the job, safely operate a CMV and will NOT affect her regular sleep habits.
Sh must also tell the company and provide them with this documentation BEFORE any drug testing.
Should she have a positive drug test, she will be contacted by the company's medical review officer who will discuss the reason for the positive test. She should then provide the above mentioned documentation to the MRO. The test will be reported as negative to the company.
