questions re antidepressant medications

Question
A question for the knowledgeable.
I got a call last week from a lady friend who wants to go to truckdriving school, then go into trucking in some capacity (Class 8 vehicles).
She wants to know: Will the fact that she is on Depakote ( a mood stabilizer) or Welbutrin (an antidepressant) or both prevent her from being hired by a carrier??
I am generally aware of the law regarding an employer's obligation to make "reasonable accommodations" for a disability, but I believe that discrimination (refusal to hire) is permissible if it is based on considerations of public safety.
So, I have little doubt that an employer can refuse to hire her, and she is certainly not going to sue.
The question I presenting is whether employers do in fact refuse to hire people on these medications.
If anyone knows what the general industry attitude is, or has any specifics, I would appreciate the benefit of your knowledge.

Answer
In order to grease the wheels.....
A letter from the prescribing physician indicating that he/she is aware of the responsibilities of the CMV driver and that in their opinion, the diagnosis nor medications will affect that person's ability to safely operate that CMV.
This will not guarantee that all companies will hire her. Some will, wome won't it's a judgement call on the company's part. So if one turns her down, keep trying.
Keeping you safe, healthy and on the road.
