Opinion's on Managed Health Care, HMO"S, PPO'

Question
RunningSoLate mentioned in her most recent post under another topic that she had become fed up with nursing under managed care.
Dr. Briggs and I both left hospital based positions for much the same reasons. It was one of the reasons we started our own truck stop based clinic for truckers. We did not like being told how we could care for patients and being forced to treat patients with only an eye for the bottom line vs. good medical care.
I would like to hear from others on this subject. Experiences with HMO's PPO's, etc.
I would also like to see discussions and ideas on how the medical system in the U.S. could be changed. Here's your chance to sound off.
BTW RSL, my friend's name was Jane Poole, Infection Control. Ring any bells?

Answer
Small world! Wonder if Jane remembers me. I was a Wright then. My first husband and I were in the Navy, that's how we came to live in Orlando--he was assigned to the Recruit Training Command there. I was a Navy Nurse and Bob was on Destroyers. He died of lymphosarcoma while we still lived in Orlando from being sprayed with that dioxin in Vietnam (AGENT ORANGE). He drove Swift Boats (specifically the 10), patrolling in the coastal waters off of Vietnam. He was stationed out of An Thoi during the third TET offensive.
And don't get me talking about managed health care. I believe God has a special place reserved in HELL for administrators and such of managed health care places.
