I had injure my back in May 1985, location T-3 and T-4 this located in the upper back. My injuring is a herniated disk. My Doctors and therapist do not recomend surgery for me until it ruptures. I have been driving for years and have been dealing with back pain ever since my injury.
At current my back hernaited on 10/25 and again on 11/1. The last one landed me in the hospital and I've been in P.T. 3 times a week. It will be after the 1st of the new year when I will be able to go back to work.
My doctors said I will be able drive for living again, but I will never be able to do physically unload a truck again. This limits my choice on employment, because there are few driving jobs that are 100% NO-TOUCH.
I guess what I'm trying to say is no matter how careful you are with lifting the "proper" way, you are still prone to injury. By the way this last two injuries occur while I was sleeping, not doing anything physical.

I have 4 disc that are messed up in my neck C3thru C7 and the company doctor put me out of work a year ago today. I also have a messed up shoulder.
As of right now both doctors Orthopedic and Nurologist say that the chances of me returning to driving is almost NIL..
Dec.4th I'm having a eperdual in my neck..Already had cortzone shots in the shoulder did no good.
