Sugar control Update

Question
THought a few here might be interested in knowing how things are going especially since I am back on the road with my control over diabetes.
As long as I make sure I eat something at least every 8 hours my sugar levels run between 102 and 126. The only times they go above the mid 120's is if I go too long in between meals/snacks and then it jumps up to 180-200, but that hasnt happened too often. So all in all things are still going well.
I have a name not a number. I am not cheap but I am resonable.

Answer
Congrats on finding a way to keep your blood sugar under control. You say that you eat about every 8 hours. Do you mind telling me what you eat? I am only curious so that I may find new ways to help the people that I am helping where I work.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Answer
I pretty much eat what I want. I try to limit starches and sugary foods each day, but I dont avoid them.
For me anyway I have found that eating 3 decent meals a day and then having 2 or 3 snacks in between the meals work the best. I have also found that avoiding certain types of foods all together has a tendency to throw my sugar levels into bigger ups and downs than eating those foods in moderation.
At this time anyway, with the medications I am on,it is, for me anyway, more a matter of how often I eat than what I eat that has the biggest effect on my sugar levels.
I know this may not really answer your question but it is the best I can do. Every person is different and the only thing I can really suggest is that a person with sugar control problems work with thier doctor, monitor thier sugar levels regularly, and keep track of what they eat, when they eat it, and what effects it has on thier sugar levels.
I have made a lot of errors in the past several months before learning what I can an can not do for me. In fact I am still learning about it and refining things and have no doubts that I always will.

Thanks for the info -
I am mostly trying to find out how truckdrivers, such as yourself - manage to successfully take care of themselves on the road. All to often, the posts here are about people that cannot maintain that control.
You are right, every person is different - but - what works for you might work for someone else, or they can take your advice as a starting point.
Thanks for the update!

Answer
Uturn, do you use Insullin? As in shooting up/ Or Pills? I know someone who controlls his Diabetus by Diet.

Answer
A driver is disqualified if he/she/it must use insulin to control diabetes. (As in injections). A person may be considered qualified if the control is achieved through diet, excercise, or use of oral medications or a combination thereof.
I take two pills every morning and have adjusted my eating habits and try to get some excercise every day (even if it is parking in the back row at the truck stop and walking to and from the truck). So far so good.
As I have pointed out this is what is working for me (at the present time) but it is in no way advice on how anyone with diabetes should control theirs. The best thing for anyone to do (the only thing to do) is to work with your doctor and monitor your sugar levels often.
