Question
I was recently involved is a fairly serious car accident (I posted the details of that on the main roundtable forum) I am mostly ok but I have some bad neck pain, which I am wearing a brace for, and some very bad bruises. I am not talking your normal every day I bumped my knee type bruises. These are the dark blue black green and pink kind, all the pretty colors lol. I think the pink means they are still not done coming in the wreak happened Saturday and every day they look worries. I feel like he** but mostly ok. The bruises came from the seatbelt that if I had not been wearing I would be dead (that’s what the EMT told me and I believe it). By the way my car is totaled the front end is gone and the accident was 100% not my fault. What I am worried about is the sever bruising. I am I rather busty woman, I say that only because that part of my body was affected by the bruising. (Very pretty huh lol,). Also the soft tissue of lap from hip to hip. I once heard that a hickey which I believe is a bruise can give you skin cancer, I am sure that is an old wives tale but can this cause and damage and is there anything I can do to make it go away faster.

Essentially broken blood vessels that leaked blood into the surrounding tissue. The more leakeage the bigger the bruise.
The pretty colors are the body reabsorbing that blood. You may even notice some hardening of the area as well.
What you must be concerned about is blood clots.
Watch for redness, swelling and increased pain ANYWHERE. I say anywhere because a clot can break loose and travel before it sticks and causes trouble.
The skin cancer is a new one on me. It can however, be so severe that it actually causes tissue breakdown of an injured area which can be a nasty looking open wound.
So glad that you were wearing that seatbelt and are still here with us.
Let me know if you have anyfurther problems, but PLEASE! Consult your Dr. as well.

Went to see my doc yesterday and had the injuries measured, the one on my lap is 66nc long and ranges from 3-10cm wide. Pretty lol. The one on my shoulder witch is a bruise/ abrasion is 18cm long and 4-11cm wide. OUCH is right. Neck still hurts worst of all and will be going to the doc regularly for awhile.
