I am hoping big time here

Question
I have been on the new medication protocol for about 2 weeks now and return to the doctor this Weds for another round of blood work. (Good thing I am not afraid of needles.....Just the bill).
The last 3 days my sugar levels have been looking pretty good. Fri I had a fasting level of 157, Sat it was 137, and this morning it was 124. In addition to that my second daily testing has not had a reading of over 175 (taken 3-6 hours after eating) in the last few days.
I just hope that things are finally looking good enough for the doc to finally agree to sign off on a DOT cetificate that this diabetes is being treated and well on the way to finally being under control.
Yes I know it is a life long issue but my short term needs and goals is to get back to work.
I have a name not a number. I am not cheap but I am resonable.

I decided it might be to my benifit to help check my control levels beyond just the old finger stick to get some of those uranalysis sticks to check to see if I am still spilling sugar into my urine or maybe started spilling keotones. Well I checked myself twice yesterday and today and got negative results all 4 times. Even had a nurse friend of mine check me one of those times to make sure I was doing it right and still got that big old negative results. Sugar levels still looking good with the blood samples so I am having more hope everyday that in a few weeks I will be back out there scaring pedestrians off the sidewalk.

You are a model health consumer! You have taken the interest and time to study your diabetes and how to cotrol it. I've had type 2 diabetes for 30 years. It ain't easy sometimes. Like you, I've been on different meds throughout the years. I've been on and off insulin, both 70/30 Humulin and Lantus. At the moment I am trying for the second tinme to get off insulin. My doctor is trying to wean me off with a pill called glucovance. After a few months, it finally seems to be helping. He won't let me try Avandia yet. He's ultra-conservative and he prefers to wait until a long history of side effects has been documented. He's an internist, so he's especially concerned about the long-term effects of medicines on the liver and kidneys.
I'm proud of you for taking such an active role in your own care. I only wish millions of others would wise up and do the same.
Good luck.
