eyes are going wacko

Question
I was driving to the bank 2 days ago when I started to see these weird shapes in my eyes. Best I can describe it is like when you look through one of the kaliedascopes and you see all different shapes and colors. It started out in one spot and grew to cover almost my entire sight. I had to drive lookin out of the corner of my eyes. It lasted about 30 minutes then cleared up and everything went back to normal. Today while driving the truck it happened again. I pulled off the road and waited for it to pass. Its happenedd before a few times in the past but it has got me thinking now. I dont really want to go see a doc about it because I am afraid he might take me off the road. I am 30 years old and I am in pretty good shape, no medical problems at all. Im thinking maybe its the beginning stages of diabetes but not sure. anyone with a medical background have any advice? thanks

Answer
Immediately. I do not have a medical background but from the symptoms you have described it could be something potentially serious. Anything that is imparing or disturbing your vision, even for temporary amounts of time, is a serious condition, especially for someone driving a truck. You never know it may be something easily correctable if diagnosed and treated now. On the other hand the last time I checked death was not something that could be treated and it is possible you could wind up killing yourself or someone else if you have one of these spells at a particularly bad time.
Is the possibility of causing death worth staying on the road. I think not. Get to a doctor now. I would also make an appoinment with an eye doctor too.
I have a name not a number. I am not cheap but I am resonable.

Answer
And seeing both types of Drs. is a real good idea, as Uturn suggested. Now I will be a bit stronger about it. DO IT PRONTO!!!! You are endangering yourself and others at this point.
Please check back and let us know the outcome.
If you need encouragement...This could be anything from glaucoma to....impending stroke. NOW GO!! PLEASE!
Keeping you safe, healthy and on the road.

Answer
As of last week im not driving anymore. I live on the 3rd floor and I was walking up the steps. I unlocked the door stepped inside, then all of a sudden I broke out in a cold sweat, lost my vision, and dropped to my knees because i was starting to pass out. I managed not to pass out and when I got my sight and breathing back in order I felt like throwing up. My only problem now is that I dont have insurance, so I cant afford to see a doc. My memory is getting a little fruity too, I got lost in my car on my way to the store, somehow I wound up on the wrong road. Does anyone know what kind of medical facilities are out there that dont cost anything? if there are any

Answer
You are dealing with a potentially life threatening situation here!
Go to the Emergency room and get treatment started, then get to Social Services, borrow the money, sell something, do ANYTHING! But get under a Drs' care!!!!!!
NOW!!!!!!!
Keeping you safe, healthy and on the road.

Answer
Nurse Red- you said it right - I hope he gets to a doctor right away - some of those symptoms sound a lot like diabetes and he could go into a coma if not looked at by a prof. right away!
