Physical for every license class

Question
Well, I'm trying to convert my Texas CDL over to an American one. There's a medical exam like in the US, but the physician actually comes out to the driving school I go through (I don't have a truck or bus of my own, so I need to rent vehicles from a driving school for the test.)
Anyway, I found it interesting that a bunch of 17-18 year old kids were also having medical exams. As it turns out, Austria requires a medical exam for every class of license, not just CDLs.
I actually think this is a good thing, because a car driver who's not medically fit to drive can be quite dangerous as well. Either way, just thought I'd note the fact for this forum.
