Can not get medical clearence to drive......

Question
After a two year battle with diabetes I can not get my re-certification to drive.
I have done everything and more that the doctor has asked/told me to do from taking my meds, test my sugar, watch my diet, lose weight, excercise more, etc.
The problem I am having is that I can not get and keep my sugar under 200 for very long. With or with out my meds my fasting sugar runs right around 240-260. It runs this no matter what I eat for supper or for the entire day.
It seems to me that I quickly develop a resistance to the medication or something. It works wonders for a short time ( a few weeks) and my sugar is in good control and then it is right back to running around 180-220 during the day and then the fasting levels as mentioned. I have been on Glucotol and Glucophase together and separately during the last two years. I have taken as much as 1500 mg of Glucophase per day along with 50 mg of Glucotrol per day. Every time I complained to my doctor that the meds are not working he just ups the dose again.
I finally had enough of DOC 1 not listening and working with me so I sought out another doctor. Told DOC 2 the whole story so what does he do. He prescribes me Glucophase. I told him it has not worked in the past and his only reply was. We'll see. All this after spending $300 on tests and office visits to DOC 2.
So now I am broke, out of work, and really frustrated with the medical community in general around here.
If anyone has any suggestions on the next step I need to take please feel free to offer up because I am out of ideas and just about out of hope.
I have a name not a number. I am not cheap but I am resonable.

Answer
You visit an endocrinologist. This is a specialist and may have more on the ball 3with the latest meds and treatment. More so that a General Medicine Doc.

U-TURN, Sorry to hear about your unfortunate turn of events.I took a pre-employment physical today and they too found sugar in my urine. Fortunatly for me the doc took a gluclose blood test and the number was 203. Way high for me.he explained that some people(not just us diabetics) will dump sugar into thier urine regularly. I was scared, especially after reading your post a`bout such. Fortunatly for me the amount of sugar was low.An wake up call for me. I hope you can work out your problems soon. Your advise here at TruckNet has help me realize what trucking is all about. I start orientation Tuesday with Gordon Transport in Washington.Again, best of luck to you, U-TURN..
