Achilles Tendinitis (not Schizophrenia)

Question
Went to WebMd.com and typed in "Achiles Tend" to generalize the search and came up with "Schizophrenia" as a result. It turned out I spelled it wrong, so make sure you all spell everything right when doing searches!!
To get to the subject, I have what my Doc diagnosed as "Achilles Tendinitis" in my cluch foot. It started last week, and got worse over the past several days to the point where I had to ask for a ride from the truck to my pick-up. I figure it probably happened from excercizing and kicking (Tae KwonDo) which I've been heavily involved with since starting work, so I'll have to take it easy on that.
I was told to put on an Ace Bandage with ice, take anti-inflamatories and return for a follow-up appt in 2 weeks. She said I would need a corticosteroid injection if it doesn't get better, but I thought I read somewhere that this would weaken the achilles tendon, so I'm a bit skeptical of that. Would it weaken it permamently or temporarily?
I have to return to work on Monday (or Tuesday) so is there something I can use to alleviate some of the pressure from my foot when using the clutch? Is there a certain kind of shoe, cast or bandage I can use? Thanks in advance!!
Erik.

But rest is the best. Along with everything else the Dr. recommended.
One thing to remember about anti-inflammatories...they work by best attaining a level in your system and then maintaining that level. Many treat these meds like a regular pain pill and only take them when in pain. This isn't the case in a situation such as this. Keep taking the meds and on schedule, you will heal much faster.
Once it is healed, stretching exercises (like warming up)a couple times a day will help to keep this from recurring.
Hope youare up and about soon.
Keeping you safe, healthy and on the road.
