Protien in urine

Question
okay, I'm (slightly)new here, but I have a medical problem I would like some feed back on.
I failed a DOT because I had too much protien in my urine. I'm working with a kidney doctor now to find out why, but is there anyone else out there that would know what causes that?
I don't want to pick on anyone, but NurseRed, everyone seems to be hollerin for you asking for your help or advice and such. Do you know anything about something like this?

Answer
It can be caused by a number of things. The important thing is, you are working with the Dr. to find the cause and correct it.
An elevated urine protien can be an indicator of BIG problems that need immediate attention (usuaslly indicative of a kidney problem), if can indicate a POTENTIAL problem, in which case getting to a Dr. and heading it off at the pass is a good thing. It can mean nothing, and it is just your unique metabolic process at work.
HOW high was it?
Please check back and tell us what you and your Dr. have come up with.

Answer
NurseRed.... Well, my cout was something like 3600 or 3.6, however they rate that. My doctor sceduled a biopsy for me for Monday, so hopefully I'll know then or soon after what my problem is. I've had sugar in my urine....I should probably quit drinking Mt Dew.... but it's never been that bad, maybe a one time or once in a while thing. So the whole protien thingy threw me off.
