Question
I have had back problems for a while, and the doc said I have arthritis and 4 herniated discs. He gave me a cortizone injection last month, and one this morning. (good stuff, that cortizone. ) He also prescribed some Celebrex 200mg, twice a day, and Skelaxin 400mg twice a day. At first, I was on Flexeril, but that stuff made me goofy, and the Doc changed it to Skelaxin.
Now none of these cause me any impairment. My main question for you, Nurse Red, is this: I am schedualed for my bi-annual urine donation next month. Will either the Celebrex or Skelaxin cause a failure? And if so, how long does it take for these to clean out? They seem to keep me pain-free, but I don't want a failed drug test, and will stop taking them if that's the case. HELP!!

Is this a DOT drug screen? If so, there should be NO scheduled testing. And according to the regs, once notified of your need to test, you must go right to the collection center.
If this is a DOT test, the meds will not cause problems. They do not belong to the 5 classes tested for under the regs. (THC, Cocaine, PCP, Opiates, or Amphetamine/Methamphetamine). But if it is NOT a DOT test, they could test for just about anything.
It certainly sounds like a NON-DOT test cuz they are violating the heck out of the regs if it isn't.

Yes, I kinda worded that wrong, didn't I?
Since I sold my truck last year, I have been driving for other O/O's and brokering some loads, trying to see where I can fit in. It seems like twice a year I hire on with someone, hence the drug test. Getting to the point now that I think a lot on hanging up the logbook.
But I can't get the diesel out of my blood, so I just keep going around getting a friend's business going in the right direction when I find the opportunity. I know how to keep a small company afloat, I just don't want to own one again. An old buddy of mine was wanting me to drive his truck for a while next month, so that's why I asked about the drug test.
I have a guy almost all trained to take the truck I now drive. He's gonna be a good hand. But I need to make sure he can handle anything at any time. He's just about there.
Thank you Nurse Red. Next time I'm out that way, I'll stop in and see ya.......
